Said to have the most beautiful diving spots in Turks and Caicos, West Caicos is a 9 square mile island that is uninhabited. West Caicos is a favourite for Picnics and Dive Operators with sandy coves and beautiful waters. There are no accommodations on West Caicos but the island is visited frequently. The crystal clear waters surrounding the Isle of West Caicos have inviting, year round surface temperatures ranging from 78-85 degrees and provide a widely varied marine environment, from the sandy flats and banks dotted with coral heads to the 3,000-foot drop-offs just offshore. West Caicos Marine National Park offers some of the most beautiful diving spots in the Turks and Caicos Islands and is therefore one of the favorite destinations for the dive operators from Providenciales. Dive sites are situated along the wall of the Atlantic Ocean and the Caicos Bank, some marked with anchor buoys by the local dive operators and watersports association.The West Caicos wall drops off to a 7000 foot abyss. Large animals are frequently seen cruising in the deep blue, ranging in size from the majestic eagle rays and manta rays to anything as big as a humpback whale. See the big anchor embeded in the coral in a dive through a tunnel. Top side of the wall ranges from 40 to 90 feet offering a variety of diving for every level of diver. The north shore, known for its three mile beach, is sheltered by sand dunes and protected by a continuous coral reef. The eastern shore is a continuous beach, cooled by the prevailing easterly breezes, and gently sloping into the protected waters of the Caicos Banks.
